To give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of JOY for mourning. ~ Isaiah 61:3

Get to know us and the processes we use to create our products from planting to harvest to finished product and all of the steps in between.

First, let’s start with some terms that you may see grace the label of our products.

Cruelty free is defined as created or produced without methods that involve experimentation on animals. All of our products are produced in small batches in our workshop. Animals are not used in any way to test or develop our products. In fact, our produces are 100% safe to be used around your pets.

All of our products are paraben free. This means some preservatives like methylparaben, ethylparaben, and butylparaben are never added to our hand made products for any reason. Parabens can act like the hormone estrogen in the body and disrupt the normal function of our hormone systems. This disruption can affect both males and females.

All products in our store are made by hand or hand process. This includes, harvesting the raw materials to developing essential oil blends, infusing botanicals, pasteurizing the milk and formulating cold process soaps, balms and creams. Because all products are handmade, in small batchs,  we are able to ensure that all goods are produced to the highest standards.

All of the plants used for infusion into our oils, soaps and creams are grown on our family farm in the heart of Orange County, Virginia. Tending the herbs and plants in the early mornings of spring and summer is one of the slow rhythms we like to build into our product production.

We pride ourselves in the concept that all of our products are sustainably made. This means that our processes focus on creating products that do not directly harm the environment during production or consumption. Our products are made from renewable resources – We hold this as one of our core values at  Ash and Oil. Our world has been sacredly bestowed to us to care for and tend well.

The majority of the ingredients we use in our products are wild grown. This means that the plants are minimally cultivated – no chemicals, limited watering, no fertilizer or other intervention from humans. This is one of the many reasons to choose Ash and Oil. We provide products to you in the most natural way possible.
